"He who takes his teachings and applies them, increases his knowledge"

Lamakū is the Hawaiian word for a kukui nut torch—it has been seen by Native Hawaiians as a symbol of enlightenment and the passing down of wisdom from one generation to another. Lamakū Afterschool Program encourages our youth to navigate towards a path of enlightenment and continuous growth. Our hope is for our keiki to nourish the ʻike, or knowledge, they receive daily & to be a lamakū, a guiding light for others to follow.
Lamakū is now Online! Keiki grades K-5 can join ʻAnakē ʻIolani & ʻAnakē Kawai on Monday-Thursday for homework assistance, piko (grounding keiki through moʻolelo & oli), and fun hands-on activities enriched by Hawaiian language & culture. Keiki will Zoom with the Aunties twice a week, receive a weekly pūʻolo (an activity bundle) in the mail, & have access to Lamakū YouTube videos.
If you are interested in enrolling your keiki, please complete the Lamakū K-5 intake form. Once staff confirms receipt of your intake form, you will receive a welcome email for our kumu to aloha your keiki into our Lamakū `Ohana.
